1. Clemency Jones is an average boy with an average life. He doesn’t think he’s talented and has no idea what he wants to do with his future. He likes to play video games and read horror novels. He’s unsure of what he wants to be when he gets older, and he’s a little nervous about making that decision. His family refers to him as Clem, but in school he was given other, usually crude, names. Clemency is usually picked on for his quiet and to himself behavior. Always wrapped up in a novel he was never one to make many friends, but wasn’t one to complain. His novels were his way of escaping and avoiding the problems being social usually brought to him.

  2. Just me ranting

It bothers me a lot when people make fanfiction or fanart of Ed either paired with Winry or some OC, and they make him into some sex fiend.

If you pay attention to the manga/Anime. Ed is the least sexually active boy of his age. He’s not interested in some curvy woman whose boobs are pretty much popping out of her top. The only times he seems remotely interested in a girl is when it’s Winry. And this happens twice in the manga and in FMA: B. He likes Winry. End of story. He’s not going to be with just any girl unless there’s a connection like what he has with Winry. Ed/OC pairings bother me because they don’t seem to take in this fact. The fact that he has no interest in women throughout the series. He almost has no sex drive at all. If he were to have sex with Winry later on, which it’s implied that he does, what with the family picture at the end. He would be very awkward during his first time, shy and embarrassed. It would be in his character. He wouldn’t automatically know what to do in the situation, because it would be his first time actually being in that type of situation, not just physically but mentally as well.

When people pair him with an OC, they make out the relationship to be great sex all over. I have never seen someone pull off Ed/OC well. They always make Ed out to be a sex pervert, when that is not his nature at all, in fact there would need to be a long story behind the couple, and not one that just butts Winry out of the picture for it to make even the slightest sense. Masculinizing Winry, like I have seen some, by shortening her hair to make it seem like she less desired by Ed is another stupid move. Ed in the manga likes Winry how she is, the fact that she can be a little more masculine sometimes is not an issue. So don’t make it out to be like that, making your OC some bodacious babe, to try and outsexy Winry. Winry doesn’t need all that to get Ed’s attention and that’s not what Ed wants. Winry and Edward just click in all the right ways. I would need a lot of convincing before I accept any Ed/OC pairing. End of story

    End rant

Des has this nailed, Ed is in no way a smooth talker when it comes to women or matters of love. It’s very out of character when fans make him out to be an outwardly romantic person without any hesitation or into some sort of a sexual deviant in their artworks or fanfiction pieces.

I think this serves well as an example of his abilities to seduce women or even think about having feelings for one.

It took Ed years until he verbally admitted his feelings to Winry, and when he did it it was not at all in a conventional or stereotypical romantic manner. He used the renewed concept of Equivalent Exchange to propose to her.

I can respect that people write / draw Ed x O.C. material as a way to show their wanted involvement in the series as homage, but if you really care you should at least make the insert original character compatabile with the protagonist, not write Winry out entirely  (find a loop hole! Ex. Maybe she moves to Rush Valley after a fight with Ed / etc.) even if based in the Shamballa universe because he still will think of her regardless, and make sure you’re making Ed Elric be himself and not completely different.
